Xmas Tom Yam Goong...

Celebrated Christmas at a Thai Disco that Daniel introduced weeks ago with darling.
We were offered cans of snow spray at the entrance at 3 for $10. Was quite puzzled when the bouncers mentioned you better get some else u will lose out.
We took a table beside a group of regulars, guys most of them. They kept playing with the snow sprays and got some onto us and they kept apologising and even offerred a can to us. One even reminded us to cover up our drinks lest the snow gets into the drinks...
At the stroke of 12 midnight, everyone went into a snow attack frenzy...
I even kenna some in my eyes by the guys next to us...angry :P so I retaliated haha
After that, shortly, my fav boy started to perform. Really entertaining...they dance and sing in various languages.
It was an unique way of celebrating Xmas this year :D

Singing, drinking at 4pm of a friday ;)

We had half day off for Xmas on friday. The gang, Andy, Penny, Terina, Eunica, Wendy, Zann n myself we went to K Box for a karaoke session. I tot it was just singing but how naive I was. Penny actually brought along the small bottles of whiskies, volka, etc that she bought from LA previously. We din want to spend $ on the drinks at Kbox so they went to Giant to bought the mixers, the little corner of the room became our make-shift pantry.

At 3pm, they were playing games and drinking. By 4, almost all of us were high. At 5, we were dancing to the techno remix number, requested by yours truly :P Aint i good at creating a fun atmosphere at KTVs heeeee.....

The session ended at 6pm, with all of us walking goggy out of the place. Had to hang out at Mac for a sobering session with the gals.

I had a 2nd session with my frens who brought me to a Thai disco at Golden Mile Complex. Seemed pretty exclusive, even had the stamp at the entrance but no cover charge, which made me wonder what the stamp at my hand is for haha.

Plenty of local guys and Thai ladies...pretty ones indeed. The singers, esp the 2 males were really cute with their singing and dancing, really entertaining..wld love to go back again.

Season of love and sharing

Finally managed complete my xmas shopping on time earlier this week. It was pretty tiring, as I had to stay up to wrap all the presents myself, cant bear to be queuing up at the shopping centers for gift wrapping service, damn long queues man....

Been feeling really tired due to lack of sleep. Even my old injury acted up on me again, luckily darling gave me a good massage one of the nights, only then did I had a good sleep last 2 days. Feeling slightly rejuvenated today.

Went for the movie, The Curse of the Golden Flower by Gong Li and Chow Yun Fatt. Thumbs Up! The scenes were overwhelming...the whole sea of golden flowers (which is actually chrysanthemums symbol for warding away evil, oso a secret code for the coup by the Queen), the troops of soldiers and palace ladies...whew! No wonder its deemed one of the greatest production by Zhang YiMou.

However, I think some audience like the auntie sitting next to me catch no ball, she even laughed at the most solemn moment and the tragic ending...hahaha...its not just a popcorn movie but rather u've got to watch how the actors and actresses give a plot an awesome new feel (plot was originally a stageplay of a family feud). It was a splendid performance by the lead actor and actress, both are my favorites :) The sets were beautiful created, full of gold ornaments and the palaces made of liu li, a kind of precious crystal. Everything was intricate and delicately made...really took my breath away...

Highly recommended

Xmas Party

I had one of the most memorable Xmas party in office yesterday; it lasted from 12 - 3pm, the longest office party we ever had. THe organisers, Eunica, Zann and gang were superb, not only did they arrange for yummy food, the plain dull pantry was completely transformed into a chic yet warmly corner full of festive spirit, thus the given name, The Cozy Corner.

We had games, gift exchange and even xmas carolling, such a refreshing change indeed. We had the guest guitarist, Spencer, Daisy's fren. He's really good, strong powerful voice indeed, put us to shame when we all sang, his voice overwhelmed ours effortlessly :P

Rainy day...

It was such a wet day yesterday. Rained throughout from morning till night. It only stopped or drizzle for brief moments like when I went downstairs to get my lunch at about 1pm and at night when we went out for dinner at 8pm.

Darling went sea fishing with the guys, the morning part was great almost everyone hooked up a fish or 2. However, when the rain started, all the fish went away too, hiding from the rain just like humans hahaha. So he slept throughout the trip as well.

Not too bad to be lazing at home for such a gloomy wet day. Did my household chores, iron all the clothes that need to be ironed (usu I wld realised that these were too crumpled to be worn :) Watch the repeat of Star Awards at the same time and checking mails as well. Realised it was too late to book for any getaways around this region, sianz...everywhere is fully booked. Think just gonna settle for a kelong trip liao. Nevertheless, its been a long time since I went to a kelong, looking forward to it : )

Bro got my CD liao, at least 1 thing off the Xmas list. Now gotto hunt for gifts for the rest. Gives me headache, just thinking about the crowd in town. Come to think of it, I am almost always in a last minute rush for xmas shopping. Gotto change this bad habit next year

Eragon

Watched this last night with hubby at Causeway Point, the reason why we chose the location was becos it was nearer to home, cheaper by a dollar, $8.50 for a weekend movie and less crowd, on top of that it had been newly-renovated so it was perfect.

The show was a tad disappointment. Attempts to stage an effect similar to LOTR were pretty lame and the lead actor whose supposed chosen from thousands cldn't really act that well. Some scenes when he tried to express his courage and anguish failed miserably, I cringed and cldn't really bear to watch. Jeremy Irons, an experienced, seasoned actor who acted as a retired Dragonrider put up a good show. Knew him from "The man in iron mask", he has always managed to convince me on his roles in the movies that he was starred in.

The scenery is breathtaking tho, at least 1 plus point for the movie and guess what, there is a sequel to it hahaha. Very typical of such movie types...

Sisters...

Last night, had dinner with Serene, Jane without Mei who's attending a wedding dinner. Leslie joined us at Thai Express as well as Serene needed to pass him some travel brochures. He's back from his honeymoon, a very funny character, who really dare to voice his tots out. E.g. he commented to the waiter how slow his crayfish dinner was and when it arrived, he exclaimed how small the serving was. The waiter looked amused and I bet he rolled his eyes. Still, I think it's harmless joking. Leslie insisted that its positive feedback for the outlet. haha...

We ate and chatted for close to 3 hours, Leslie left halfway, leaving 3 of us to reminisce abt the good old days in primary school. "who got a crush on which boy....who played truant, who slipped out of school to buy icecream and tibits" haha...and the haunted walls where the japanese had their POWs execution carried out at the back of the old primary school..still gives me creeps when i recall the walls that were numbered in red paint...The gals said that I hve got fantastic memories cos' I rem some if not most of the stuffs that they dont :D for e.g. who sat beside who in class, where the classroom faced in primary school!! They were so amazed that I cld still quote those heehee. I wonder why too, cant rem what happened in pri 1 but at least there are faint memories from pri 3 onwards, i cld still rem my crush, a cute boy with dimples, very cheeky too likes to disturb me in class till I was fedup and had to complain to our teacher hahaha.
Hihgtlight of the conversation was the interrogation of Serene's current beau for sake of Jane & Mei. Only I was aware of the whole story :) or rather I was the one who egged her on and accompanied her to the shop; posed as a customer buying from the shop just to get the chance to find out if we can find this long lost classmate. Serene was so shy about telling it that I had to do it for her, tho she managed to carry on from there onwards. Indeed to some of us, it was such a bold thing to do yet it was only right to follow where our feelings lead. Am so glad for her that she's basking blissfully in a loving relationship.
We exchanged gifts for xmas after dinner, I got a nice Paul & Joe nail polish from Jane and lipsticks from Serene..nice...

Mei joined us at about 10.30pm, it was crowded everywhere and shops were closing. We were walking up & down orchard road for several times before deciding on NYDC@The Hereens for more chatting and interrogtion haha.
Supposed to buy the album "camomile blend" by Emi Fugita for the office xmas exchange but realised its was pretty ex at HMV per my bro's comment. Ended up, the gals each bought some CDs except me ;) Anyway, bro is gonna help me buy somewhere which is cheaper.
Highlight of the night:
This was taken by a professional photographer. Nice ya?
Morale of the story: whenever u need help to take photos for u, always ask the ones with the SLRs.

Mood Dampener....

This is supposed to be a great start to the weekend, but I am reallly pissed off right now. Upset, confused and humiliated...

This fren of mine made a remark which made me seemed to be a really unworthy person. Worse of all, he's having a double standards to the same issue. How can he expect me to agree when he himself is unable to do it?

Feeling really shitty as I wrote this.

Well, taking a step back, I might be over-reacting to another person's remarks. What can be more important than knowing it myself what is right and what is wrong? I felt that he's plain selfish to impose that kind of expectation on me. I am just sharing honestly what I am doing and I am not scared to say that I did nothing wrong at all.

By being angry or upset with things or people, I am making myself miserable now...haiz...gotto cool down....

Alright, gonna put this behind and let my feelings settle...

It's Christmas time!! Shopping tonight...Gals' nite out!! :)

Friends...

Earlier last week, I received an anonymous sms, I was totally clueless who that was. The person replied a few days later. Such a pleasant surprise, it's a friend whom I hv lost contact for almost 2 years esp with the fact that I lost my phone last year. Valerie was the temporary receptionist in my office a couple of years of ago. As I started to recall, I even attended her 21st birthday back then :) Such a sweet gal to catch up after a long while.

This little gal even got married liao, time really flies...gonna find some time to catch up with her one of these days...

First Aider!!

Just completed my Occupational First Aid course at the Red Cross last week. It was a 3 day training with an examination on the last day. It was very informative and very practical indeed. I am glad that I chose to be part of the training by my Health & Safety Committee. I almost regretted when I heard abt the exam and how tough it was going to be. However, having learnt about the experience of the director of the association on how his family failed to adminster first aid or rather failed to realise the serious consequences of a fall of a mother who had just delivered a baby. It resulted in the death of the lady due to internal bleeding in the head. It was such a sad story and it cld hv been prevented if the family had 1st Aid knowledge.

It was a fun experience knowing people from various industries e.g. chemicals, constructions, etc and how stringent their facilities are. My practice buddy, a middle age Malay lady, who was extremely talkative and kept harping on how my hair made her unable to tie a secure bandage. It was pretty annoying at first when she kept at it, however, after the 1st day, I gave up and decide to accept her as she is and resign to my fate :)

It was like a crash course, we had to cram everything within 2 days and sit for the Theory test and Practical on the 3rd Day. All of us were so stressed up. Luckily, for me, I managed to read thru the text and even scored one of the highest in class :P As for the practical exam, all of us were so excited and anxious. We tot that it wld be the same during the practice session, however, this tester who is very experienced, created scenarios and bombarded us with questions that made all of stumped. Of course those were things that wld happen in reality which was good that he tested us instead of going through the motion of just doing the standard drill and CPR procedure.

There was this candidate whereby she was questioned on the next course of action when the casualty had bluish fingernails and toenails even after she performed all the necessary steps to revive the casualty. She was dumbfounded, and all of us were stucked as well, scratching our heads trying to recall what had been taught. Guess what the answer was? Check if its a female and also is she wearing blue nail polish!!!!!! We bursted out laughing...what the heck, man!!

Then we realised that the tester does have a reason for asking such questions, its to make us think practically and not to panic when we are in the real situation and apply what we learn accordingly.

All of us managed to pass the exams and got certified as a First Aider, a little accomplishment for me before end of 2006 :)

Update...

It's been a busy week again, no time to update my blog since wed...

On thursday, had a KTV session with Brandon & cousins and Serene. Brandon's Frank's colleague, Frank din managed to join becos' of his busy schedule. Nevertheless, Brandon's cousins Sam and Mako (i think) were a fun bunch. Especially Brandon, he's really innovative at changing the lyrics of the songs. Both him and Sam did a good duet of the "1-nite stand" song of "All I wanna do is (to make love to you)". We were laughing so hard at their funny antics and as well as Brandon's fantastic showmanship :)

Fri - New Asia Bar and China One
Went out pretty late at about 11 plus as I was lazing at home, recuperating from the late night out the day before. Surprisingly, new asia bar was quite happening with plenty of hunks ;) Saw a gigantic martini glass ordered by a table, I imagined having that with plenty of lychees...yummy :P~ maybe I shld get that for my birthday heehee. Decided to go to check out Attica at Clarke Quay unfortunately there's such a long queue. My frens & I went over to China 1 instead. Majority of the crowd are the expats. They even separated the Angmos and Asian pool playing area, presumingly, the cheaper option for the Asians...tsk tsk tsk....I met Nico,a female saxophonist at Ink Bar. She was there chilling out cos' she's not playing that night due to a Citibank event.

Although it was a short night, I was pretty intoxicated. Perhaps its becos I was too tired...

Sat - Open season & French Chillout Place at Ann Siang Hill
Open season was such a funny show, my fren & I watched this cos the tixs for Flags of our Fathers were snapped up. The 1st part was rather boring, the action only starts then the animals fought back the humans (hunters). The ideas were ingenious e.g. they used rabbits as mufflers and the skunks for toxic gas air bombing, the antelopes used underwear and even bras to use as catapults, etc it was such a funny sight, we laughed till our sides ached. Although it was not as nice as Shrek or Cars but it does crack us up at the end. After movie, it was still early so my fren & I drove around and found this little bar at Ann Siang hill. It serves wine, cheese and mostly french wine...Moet & Chandon. And they had a special basement level where one can play pool or chillout. It was really cosy and relaxing, we almost fell asleep. The cheese were yummy, too bad my fren dun really like it and I think ate a little too much :P not sure if I am gonna gain a few pounds :P

Sunday - Went shopping at Parkway Parade when hubby decided to go skating at East Coast Park. Finally bought my heels :) But when I got back to East Coast to join the rest of the family, Darling declared that he lost his handphone, party becos of me cos he left it with his sis when he went for a dip in the sea and worried that I mgith call :( But we managed to get a replacement last min so that he can fly off in peace for biz today. He was so lost when he lost his phone, so typical of a singaporean, cant live without a phone. hahaha. He's got a N80 think its better than the N73 that he lost.

Wonder how's his Jakata trip...miss him :(
